HopeHealth, one of the largest non-profit hospice and palliative care providers in New England, seeks a seasoned Chief Financial Officer (CFO) possessing expertise in all financial areas, strategic thinking, and exemplary leadership skills to ensure the continued strength of one of the area’s most respected healthcare organizations. HopeHealth is comprised of three affiliates with a combined operating budget of nearly $80 million: Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Rhode Island, the major teaching affiliate for hospice and palliative care of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence; Visiting Nurse of HopeHealth, serving Rhode Island and bordering Massachusetts communities; and HopeHealth Massachusetts, encompassing Hope Hospice with offices in Hyannis, Falmouth, Martha’s Vineyard and Brockton, the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich and Hope Dementia and Alzheimer’s Services. In addition to providing the highest quality of hospice, palliative care, and home health services, HopeHealth offers area residents an array of education and bereavement programs, including Camp Braveheart, a summer camp for grieving children, support groups, individual and family counseling and a robust volunteer program.

Position Summary:
Reporting to HopeHealth’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the CFO is responsible for leading a 20+ FTE finance operation, providing strategic financial counsel to the CEO and Board, and collaborating with administrative and clinical leaders to identify and implement effective business solutions through timely analysis and reporting. In addition to providing positive, productive leadership/mentorship to the finance management team, the selected candidate will assess and align staffing with the growth of the organization with an eye toward best practice. Most importantly, the CFO will contribute to leading HopeHealth’s strategic growth and integration initiatives.

Areas under the CFO’s purview include, but are not limited to, revenue cycle, contracting, payroll, finance (accounting/ general finance, accounts payable, financial reporting), investments, cash management, insurance, and pension.

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or other related discipline; Master’s Degree highly preferred. Minimum ten years’ progressively-responsible experience with several years of senior-level financial management and fiscal operations experience in a complex setting. A minimum of eight years’ staff leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to recruit, retain, and inspire change. Previous experience working in a complex healthcare system or organization (ideally with exposure to hospice and home care) is strongly preferred. Knowledge of the complete array of functions within finance is essential.
